  • Why is the practice called Personal?
    Because it is ☺
  • Are you board certified?
    Yes, Dr. Teo Matos is double board certified in General Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), demonstrating his commitment to the highest standards of mental health care.
  • What are your fees?
    For patients without insurance coverage or using out-of-network benefits, our out-of-pocket fees are: New Patient Intake: $400 Follow-up Appointments: $250 We provide superbills after each session, which you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement if your plan includes this benefit.
  • Does Personal offer services beyond medication management?
    At Personal we will do a comprehensive evaluation and define your goals of treatment. We provide both medication management and psychotherapy services.
  • Do you provide consultations and second opinions?
    Yes, Dr. Matos will tell you that the best psychiatrist is the one who knows you best. We respect your established therapeutic relationship with your providers. We are happy to collaborate and communicate with your therapist or psychiatrist if you want us to.
  • Do you offer telehealth services?
    Yes, we offer telehealth services, if this is your preference we can coordinate that for you. Personal pride themselves with providing a close and personal care and we suggest at least one in-person visit.
  • Do you only Practice in South Florida?
    We are licensed in the states of Florida and Connecticut.
  • Do you take insurance?
    Yes, we currently accept the following insurance providers: Cigna Healthcare Aetna United Healthcare Oxford Health Plans Oscar If you have other insurance providers we are not in network with, consult your insurance company, as they often reimburse out-of-network costs. Please note that accepted insurance providers may change over time, so we recommend checking with our office or your insurance provider to confirm coverage before your appointment.
  • Do you work with children in your practice?
    Dr. Teo Matos Santana sees adults, however there are 16- and 17-years old patients that he may be able to accept.
  • What is Dr. Matos' approach to medication management?
    It is an evidence-based approach, aiming at a “lowest effective” dosing, ensuring restoration of function and not only symptom control. Dr. Matos believes in finding therapies that will avoid oversedation or dependence and favors the ones that will target the origin of the symptoms. Dr. Matos will do his best in selecting medications that will not affect your weight or metabolic profile.
  • What therapy modalities have influence in your practice?
    Teo Matos Santana is trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT with particular interest in Depression and Panic Disorder. He is also trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma other integrative forms of CBT with psychodynamic theories like CBASP. Dr. Matos is trained in Motivational Interviewing for addictions and other behavioral patterns for which we need to enhance motivation and readiness to change.
